PRAYER

A lot about prayer.  But first:

Ps. 141:1 Lord, I cry unto thee: make haste unto me; give ear unto my voice, when I cry unto thee.

141:2 Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

Rev. 5:8 And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.

Rev. 8:3 And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.

8:4 And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand.

JESUS IS NOT ALARMED ABOUT THE TIME (HE DOESN’T HAVE TO RUSH,) BECAUSE HE HAS IT ALL IN CONTROL:

Lk. 8:41 And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus' feet, and besought him that he would come into his house:

8:42 For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying. But as he went the people thronged him.

8:43 And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any,

8:44 Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.

8:45 And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?

8:46 And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.

8:47 And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.

8:48 And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.

8:49 While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.

8:50 But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.

8:51 And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden.

8:52 And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth.

8:53 And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.

8:54 And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise.

8:55 And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat.

8:56 And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done.

Isa. 15:5 My heart shall cry out for Moab; his fugitives shall flee unto Zoar, an heifer of three years old: for by the mounting up of Luhith with weeping shall they go it up; for in the way of Horonaim they shall raise up a cry of destruction.

5:16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.

Job 9:16 If I had called, and he had answered me; yet would I not believe that he had hearkened unto my voice.  (How often, after God has answered a prayer request, do we say, ‘I don’t believe it!)

II Cor. 1:8 For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life:

1:9 But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:

1:10 Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;

1:11 Ye also helping together by prayer for us, that for the gift bestowed upon us by the means of many persons thanks may be given by many on our behalf.

7:9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?

7:10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?

7:11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

Prayer is talking to God.  It doesn’t have to necessarily be asking for something.  Many preach that it isn’t about trying to make God move on your or someone else’s behalf, nor can you influence God to do so.  However, God can be moved by a request even for evil which God can turn around for good (Job 2:3.)  The bottom line is: PRAY!

James 4:1 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?

4:2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.

4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
