Eye Of A Needle Or Narrow Is The Way

Mt.7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

In the following, the eye of a needle has been referred to as a short narrow opening in the wall of a city by which a rider must dismount his beast and enter the city on foot.  This was to allow defenders to allow people entry at night, when the city gates were closed, while still allowing the defenders to defend without being overrun.   This theory has been poo pooed by some who say it must be taken literally.  If literal, then no camel would be able to pass through a needle’s eye at all.  Therefore,  no rich man could enter, either.  Jesus did not say a rich man couldn’t enter; it simply would not be easy.
