CHASTEN

 

CHASTEN: {3256} yacar, yaw-sar'; a primitive root; to chastise, literally (with blows) or figuratively (with words); hence, to instruct: — bind, chasten, chastise, correct, instruct, punish, reform, reprove, sore, teach.

 

Deut. 8:5 Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the LORD thy God chasteneth thee.

 

I Cor.11:31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

11:32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

 

Job 5:17 Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

5:18 For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.
